In 1971, the founding fathers of the United Arab Emirates, their highnesses the Sheikhs of the seven Emirates, gathered in what was to become Union House, signing into effect the formation of the country. A pivotal moment in history which saw the leaders stand united, ready to face a brighter future.

The declaration and its signing hold immense significance for Emirati people, symbolising a pivotal moment in their history. Recognising the importance of the Union House complex, the responsibility of opening the Etihad Museum on this esteemed site was entrusted to HQWS.

The events of the day paid tribute to the founding of the nation and recognised its progress since its establishment. Military flypasts and an honour guard salute supplemented the celebrations, which honoured the journey from the early days when the Founding Fathers came together to form the country.

Paving the Way for the Leaders of Tomorrow

Coinciding with the country's 45th National Day, the event was attended by the ruling families of all seven Emirates. To give the ceremony its due credence, the iconic moment of the seven leaders signing the UAE into existence was recreated, capturing the same powerful image from 45 years prior.
